Notes: Born at Frederick City, Md., August 8, 1823; son of Jacob S. Baer. Educated at Frederick Academy, Baltimore City College and St. John’s College; M.D., University of Maryland, 1845; Vaccine Physician, Baltimore, 1846; settled for practice at Middletown, Frederick Conty, Md.; Examining Surgeon of his Congressional District during the Civil War; at Battle of South Mountain attended Col. R.B. Hayes and saved his arm; practiced twenty-seven years; later life spent in agriculture in Roanoke County, Va. Died in Virginia, April 30, 1888.
