Notes: Born in Kent County, Md., April 7, 1786. Graduated at Washington College, Chestertown; student of Dr. Edward Worrell, 1803-04, and of Dr. M. Brown, 1804-07; attended medical lectures at the University of Pennsylvania; M.D., (Honorary), University of Maryland, 1841; began practice at Chestertown, 1807, as partner of Dr. Brown; removed to Baltimore in 1868; Professor of Chemistry, Washington College, Chestertown, 1846-54; later, President of the Board of Visitors; a Founder of the American Medical Association and the College of Pharmacy, Baltimore; Vice-President, Medical and Chirurgical Faculty, 1848-51, 1853-54, and 1856-57; signs a diploma as President, 1849-50. Died at Baltimore, June 13, 1879.
