A.B., 1880, and later A.M., University of Kentucky; M.D., College of Physicians and Surgeons, Baltimore, 1882; practiced at Baltimore, 1882-88; Professor of Pathology, Baltimore University, 1885-88; Post-mortem Surgeon, first ten wards of Baltimore, 1883-88; in 1889, his health failing, he removed to California, remaining five years; then went to Europe, studying in hospitals at London, Berlin, Vienna and Paris; settled at Chester, Pa., 1896, practicing there since; President of the Board of Health, Chester, Pa., 1899-.
