Notes: Dr. Swinton, Surgeon, killed and five Surgeon’s Mates wounded at Braddock’s defeat. After this defeat people fled Baltimore for safety. Indians said to be within 80 miles of the town. Women and children put on boats in the harbor for flight down the Bay, if necessary (July 9).
