Notes: Monday, last 18th inst., Mr. John S. Leib, Treasurer of the Northern Central Railroad, died suddenly in Baltimore. The deceased had not been feeling well for some time and had started from his office to go home, when he fell upon the street. The nearest physican was hastily summoned but life was extinct when he reached the stricken man.

The body was afterward removed to his home. Dr. John H. Grimes, Mr. Leib’s Attending physician, said death was caused by congestion of the brain.

Mr. Leib taught at York County Academy a short time. He was afterward appointed secretary of the York and Cumberland Railroad, which position he held five years until the road was absorbed, in 1854, by the Northern Central system, when he was elected treasurer of the Northern Central, with his office in Baltimore. He remained continuously in the service of the Northern Central, Company until his death. Mr. Leib was also president of the Merchants’ Loan Association of Baltimore.

Darby, treasurer of the safe Deposit and Trust Company, Five brothers M. W. and Thomas Leib, of Baltimore William H., of Baltimore county, Joseph, of Hanover, Pa., and Jesse, of Stewartstown, Pa., and one sister, Mrs. Mary A.
