Notes: Born at Taneytown, Frederick County, Md., February 14, 1810; son of Samuel Knight. Educated at St. Mary’s College, South Mountain, Md.; M.D., Washington Medical College, Baltimore, 1832; in Baltimore General Dispensary seven years; practiced at Baltimore and at Cincinnati for a short time; settled at New York City, 1835; in 1840, limited his practice to Orthopaedic Surgery; Assistant in orthopaedic Surgery, University of New York, 1842-44; organized Hospital for the Ruptured and Crippled, 1863; Surgeon in Charge, Hospital for the Ruptured and Crippled, 1863+; author of “The Improvement of the Health of Children and Adults by the Alterations of the Human Frame,” 1874; “Static Electricity as a Therapeutic Agent,” 1882. Died at New York, October 24, 1887.
