  1828-Nov 30, 1867. Back pages concern records of baptisms, June 1,
  1834-Feb 23, 2868. All performed at his home, Hanover Street. many of the
  records are entered in the records of the LIght Street (First) Methodist
  Episcopal Church, Light near Baltimore Street, Baltimore. Roberts achieved
  considerable fame locally and as an itinerant preacher on Methodist

                    (1806-1870) was a Baltimore clergyman.  He was an elder in
                    the Methodist church and the author of "Centenary Pictorial
                    Album, Being Contributions of the Early History of Methodism
                    in the State of Maryland" (1866).
                 The collection consists of one holographic
                    notebook (1836-1841) of Baltimore clergyman, George C. M.
                    Roberts.   In the notebook are copies of letters written in
                    support of his appointment as chaplain to the U. S. Army
                    troops stationed at Fort McHenry, MD.
                 Provenance:  The notebook was the gift of Dr. J.
                    Wesley Cole.
