    Notes: Funeral services for Ellen Coleman Israel, a retired nurse, will be held at 11 A.M. tomorrow at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Charles and Saratoga streets.Miss Israel, who was 92, died Friday after a long illness at the home of a niece at 333 Tuscany road, where she had lived for the last five years.

    For many years, she was associated with University Hospital, serving at one time, as assistant to the acting superintendant of nurses.

    In 1945, she retired to care for her uncle, the late John Edward Bird, and lived for many years in the Severn Apartments.

    For more than 30 years, she was active in the Altar Guild at St. Paul’s Church.

    She was a life member of the alumnae association of the nursing school at the University of Maryland from which she graduated in 1910. She had held every office except the president of the association.

    She was born at Mary’s Mount, a family estate near Harwood in Anne Arundel county.

    After her graduation from nursing school she was in charge of the operating room at the old Emergency Hospital in Annapolis where she worked for several years before starting her career at University Hospital.

    During World War I, she served in France with an Army hospital unit organized at the University of Maryland.

    She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Florence Elise Israel Bird, of Baltimore, four brothers, Rogers Hiss Israel, of Baltimore, Thomas Beale Israel, of Laurel, and Philip Naylor Israel and Fielder Israel, both of Washington, and many nieces and nephews.
