Notes: Andrew Wiesenthal, the only son of Dr. Charles Frederick Wiesenthal, was born in Baltimore in 1762. He attended medical lectures in Philadelphia and in London, spending three years, from 1786 to 1789, in the latter city. He lectured on anatomy and surgery at 40 North Gay Street, from 1789 to 1798. He was appointed attending physician at the Baltimore Almshouse in 1789. In the same year he married Sarah Van Dyke, of the Eastern Shore. He was Judge of the Orphan’s Court in Baltimore in 1796. In the Masonic Lodge he was Deputy Grand Master. He died in this city December 2, 1798. He was reputed to be a very skillful surgeon; he was also an accomplished musician and artist.
