    Notes:

    AN UNUSUAL SURGICAL OPERATION

BALTIMORE, May 12. — An unprecedented event in the history of medical science is reported here. Four weeks ago, Mrs. Ballard, wife of a Baltimore coach-maker, gave birth to a female child of unusual size. Upon the reports of the midwife a physician was called, and the fact was established that a second child was present — a case of abdominal or extra uterine pregnancy. The patient was removed to Vincent’s Hospital, and on Tuesday the operation of Caesarian section was performed by Dr. H.P.C. Wilson, assisted by Drs. Chatard, Allan P. Smith, W.P. Howard, and others, and a large boy was taken from among the visera. Both children are living and the mother is doing well. The case will attract great attention throughout the medical world.
